Speaking

I’ve learned to speak the hard way.

A decade of youth ministry has taught me how to be engaging, creative, honest and challenging. And years of teaching primary school kids have taught me how to hold attention, craft a compelling story and ask good questions.

Creative. Gritty. Engaging. Biblical. Missional.

I bring together things that don’t always go together: biblical depth without the stuffiness; research and church history without being overly academic; youth-friendly communication without the fluff. I love telling stories, making people laugh and bringing big ideas to life — while also making space for the tough stuff: poverty, injustice and suffering. Ultimately, I want to help people see Jesus, Scripture and the world around them with fresh eyes- and to think more deeply about what it means to follow him faithfully.

“Nathan is a gifted preacher who brings depth and clarity to Scripture, helping people connect God’s Word with everyday life. His communication is engaging, creative, honest and appropriately challenging, shaped by years in youth ministry and cross-cultural mission. He connects well across generations and brings a genuine passion for mission and social justice, encouraging the church to live out the gospel in practical and transformative ways.”

“Nathan has a real ability to engage both young people and adults, communicating in a way that is thoughtful, accessible and engaging. He can speak across a wide range of topics, drawing particularly on his experience in mission, leadership and his research into church growth. His speaking combines depth and nuance with a great mix of humour and storytelling that keeps people engaged and gives them plenty to reflect on.”
